Analysis of Vocabulary Test in KWIS

Abstract
Reseach findings say that scatter pattern in Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale is an important diagnostic indication. But this findings suggest that response pattern in each subtests seems to be more valuable diagnostic indication and to give more -information about intellectual functionings. According to this findings this study was made to evaluate the diagnostic validity of vocabulary subtest in Korean Wechsler Intelligence Scale.
Subjects are consisted of 36 neurotics and 55 psychotics. This subjects "was administered KWIS, responses in vocabulary subtest was analyzed according to deviant verbal responses and compared with F, Sc scale in MMPI.
Following were the results of this study:
1. Intelligence quotient is about average range which is expected in normal group.
2. Vocabulary ability seems to be more irresponsive to emotional disturbances.
3. Irrespect of item difficulty, deviant verbal responses appear in psychotic group, but neurotic group does not.
4. Deviant response seems to be a damage in associational process rather than imparement of intellectual efficiency and thinking ability.
5. It was suggested that interpretation of deviant verbal response should be more acceptable when it was interpreted with Sc and F ¢¥Scale in MMPI because number of deviant responses was significantly correlated with Sc and F Scale in MMPI.
6. Above 7 of the deviant verbal responses suggest that his adapatable capacity in reality is about psychotic range.
